MOSUL, a 2019 feature documentary film, features Iraqi journalist Ali Maula as he travels through Iraq interviewing the multi-faith, multi-ethnic groups that make up the Iraqi forces fighting ISIS. Covering the period from fall 2016 to summer 2017, MOSUL provides a glimpse of the people in competing factions who united to become an army of 100,000 determined to liberate Iraq’s second-largest city from ISIS occupation.

MOSUL was directed by Daniel Gabriel, who also served as executive producer on the movie. Drawing on his personal familiarity with Iraq and Afghanistan to make MOSUL, Gabriel completed six tours in the region as a CIA counter-terrorism officer supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

After completing his service with the CIA, Gabriel earned a graduate certificate in filmmaking from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and another certificate in producing from the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television. MOSUL, which debuted in April 2019 at the Cleveland International Film Festival, is Gabriel’s debut film.
MOSUL is now available for download at iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, and Vimeo, as well as through cable on demand. Visit https://mosul-film.com for more information.
